About the Presenter:
My name is Aleisha and I am a Bahá’í artist living in Edmonton, AB.
My passion is creating Bahá’í inspired art and learning resources for children, youth and adults.
I was born and raised in Australia in a Catholic household, but it wasn’t until I moved to Canada with my husband that I started learning more about the Bahá’í faith. When my husband and I first moved to the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, I was immediately welcomed by the Bahá’í community there and was asked on multiple occasions to host the children’s art program during the consultation portion of the Feasts. One year later, I became a Bahá’í.
Art has always been a passion of mine since I was young, and I’ve always wanted to share my journey with others. When my husband and I moved to Edmonton a few years later, and when news of Covid 19 spread to our community, I knew I had to make a difference and use my art skills to bring happiness and hope to people during such difficult times. While sitting down at the dinner table one afternoon with my pencils and sketchbook, my husband thought of a wonderful idea. Why not create Bahá’í inspired art for people? This idea will then become the start of a new and exciting venture for the Bahá’í community. Therefore creating 9 Lotus Petals.
